Its been an interesting first six weeks into Let's Face It 2025 but let me first say? Loving. It. Because that's the over-riding feeling I've had. I'm excited to see what each week holds, how I'll adapt/interpret the lesson and how it will inform my ongoing work. So. Yah. woot woot
Since February 28, 2024 I have been creating 4x4" cards for The 100 Day Project.
The100DayProject is a free, global art project that takes place online. Every year, thousands of people all around the world commit to 100 days of creating. Anyone can participate (yes, that means you!).
To further up the ante...as I am wont to do...the first 100 cards included techniques from from an online course by Rebecca Sower. I know a lot of people choose to do one thing a day for the project but for me, creating multiples at one sitting was much easier.
Sometimes creating things go fast...the idea, the implementation, the completion. Other times? Like pulling teeth. It's just hard. The ideas are vague, dead-end paths abound and finishing seems to take forever.
I received a new LARGE 16x20" Gelelf gel plate for Christmas, (Thanks Tom!) and HooBoy! it's a learning curve. So. Much. Space! All of the works below are works in progress:

What does being so frittered ...in my art practice... do to my Art? If I limited my materials to only wire and objects, say or paint or a single substrate, how would that manifest? Would my work become more singular (read: boring) or would it become stronger?
Is this jack of all trades approach stopping me from mastering anything?
The only way of knowing of course is to just focus on ONE thing and see.
And yet... just this morning as I entered the studio tying on my apron, my eyes flicked from wire/metal station to paint table to wax bench. Thinking what shall I do, what do I FEEL like doing today? Is there merit in NOT relearning a task, getting into that mindset and focusing only on the message?
Do I have the wherewithal to find out?
