Mixed Media Artist

Call Backs.

I wish I could say I'm all refreshed from my trip to the UK, all raring to go, brainmeats filled to the brim with the NEW and EXCITING. Except. We didn't go to the UK, and had to cancel due to some stupid flu bug we caught. I'm still not completely over it *hack hack*. And I am COMPLETELY over it.

What I CAN say is that on those not quite so sick days, I was trolling back through my posts to update them for the current newly built website. And if that seems a waste of time and redundant. Well, yes! Yes it is. But that's where I'm at. Also, what I can say is, there were some great posts from "back in the day". So why not toot my own horn?!?

Here, then, in no particular order are four posts I thought worth sharing. Again.

Experiment Eureka!: Wherein I stumble onto a surprisingly satisfying inkjet image transfer technique using cello bags and gel medium, fully expecting it to fail, and absolutely delighted when it doesn't.

The Grid Journal - What I've learned so far: Where I share a month's worth of hard-won lessons from a daily grid journaling practice — equal parts color theory, permission to make mud, and a love letter to white gesso.

Why Take Classes??: I make a passionate case for why artists should keep taking classes — to refill a depleted creative well, pick up new skills, and shake up their practice — along with some hard-won advice on when to cut your losses and walk away.

Pouring Medium Magic: Singing the praises of Liquitex Pouring Medium, a versatile studio workhorse that glazes, lightens, protects, and transfers text — basically the Ctrl-Z of the mixed media world.
