Happy New Year!

I can still say that, right? It's only January, after all.

So what does 2026 have in store for me? Well, as I mentioned in my 2025 wrap up, I won a place in the Let's Face It year long course and to be honest, I'm still very much loving portraits. That became abundantly clear whilst I've spent the last few weeks honing my website...new artist statements, revamped look, new sections etc...I was just so jazzed to see how everything looked and sounded.

What you'll notice if you take a minute to look around, I've tried to keep everything simple. Three sections...

  1. A new Portfolio page that shows a medley of current and older work which reinforce my  figurative theme. Pretty easy to do, actually. I guess people and faces have been a recurring thing for a long time.
  2. My blog.
  3. And another new section [insert TADA! here] that will offer works for sale called: Available.
Along with computer time, I've also been making art!

Two new pieces based on lessons from Let's Face It 2026, using my choice of references as well as colour palette. So far, I like the way this subtly new direction is taking me.

Pippi Got Old

I imagine her as an older Pippi Longstocking. She's lost her horse. Life is way harder than it used to be. And she is OVER it! Ha! Done with water-soluble oil pastel on textured cardstock of all things, she is vibrant and loose and I love her A LOT!

She Knows

This one is watercolour, layer upon layer, with some great unusual colours (oh! those green bits! *swoon*) on brand new-to-me watercolour paper (thank you Tom!) Again. A world-weary, seen it all, reference photo because, I dunno about you? but I am DONE. And it's only January. EEsh!

I've also been playing with AI using sometimes gentle photos and turning them up a notch (or 1000). Such was this lovely image of Rabbit Girl who turned into Angry Bunny. Fun stuff!

Gonna leave it here and if you haven't already, you might want to subscribe to my Newsletter as that's where I'll be posting new works for sale. Monthly-ish!

Again. Happy New Year. Here's to a peaceful and calm 2026. (we can hope!)
