Slowly I turn. Step by step. Inch by Inch.

It never fails.
I go away ... for a couple of weeks or a month ... and upon my return get hit by the Flu-by-Four. Only THIS time I was taken down to my knees with a lovely bronchitis/pneumonia cocktail.

The healing process is slow going. I think my body is as much affronted by the meds (antibiotics + not one but TWO puffers!) as by The Ick. My energy is in limited supply and I have so. much. to. do.
Still. As one friend pointed out. It's better than being in the hospital. True Dat!

And because of being waylaid, I've had to whittle my To Do List down to the absolute bare minimum. A tough thing to do anytime but at this time of the year? Eesh.

There are bright spots however...
  1. Our traditional Christmas Eve dinner ... being hosted by my son, daughter-in-law and new baby (Yep. Hello I'm a grandmother!) ... will be a true collaborative effort. For the very first time. I might be able to get used to this!
  2. Out of necessity my social commitments have been exactly NIL. We're still having a brunch next Sunday for best friends who for the first time will not be part of our traditional Christmas Eve dinner. But my daughter will help and we'll flesh it out with locally made goodies.
  3. Present buying will be the most modest. Ever. Something I've been trying to do over the years but haven't been able to achieve for one reason or another. This might make me the happiest of all. The commercialization and over consumption kinda drives me nuts. Always. But particularly at this time of the year which makes me a giant Scrooge!
So. Yay! for silver linings.
