Behind the Painting

Originally conceived as a triptych, this piece evolved when the third panel, Facing The Heat, went its own way. What remains is a powerful diptych focused on the concept of 'the stare'. On one panel, a stylized, multi-coloured seagull meets your eyes directly. Whilst on the second, an older figure — holding her own with profound, grounded confidence — stares you down. Together, they form an IN YOUR FACE diptych that questions who, exactly, is looking at whom!
