Behind the Painting

Sometimes an idea hits at just the right time with just the right inspiration. Such was "The Unbelonging". I wanted to create a watercolour effect but with acrylics. I also wanted the background to be as monotone as possible whilst the front featured figure was painted in bold, punchy pinks and oranges. As her portrait unfolded it became clear she was not of THIS world, comfortable but apart, standing in the rigid, grey architecture. This juxtaposition continues to excite and enthrall me.
