Behind the Painting

It was the slump of his shoulders that weight of life being just TOO MUCH which attracted me to the initial reference photo. As I started painting, all these crazy plums, magenta pinks and acid greens started coming into play. Why?!? Has your brain ever been going at a thousand miles an hour, electrified but your body just DOG TIRED? Where's all that energy and emotion going to GO??? That's where those colours come from. Sometimes the most vibrant colours are the only way to capture a truly heavy silence.
