Nom Nom Nom - An Assemblage

This assemblage is the first in quite awhile.

This is a submission for the show "Nomnom" a show created by Cuts and Paste Gallery, a collage and assemblage only gallery, the first of its type in Canada and it's right here in my own backyard, in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Whose crumbs the crows inspect
And with ironic caw
Flap past it to the Farmer’s corn
Men eat of it and die

I used a vintage dessert knife box, where I wax transfered knife-related text onto the blades held in by wire. On the top of the box, the text from Emily Dickinson's "Fame is a fickle food" runs on silk ribbon and a crow's feather along with some shards of fine china.

On the outside of the box is the children's verse, oft attributed to Shel Silverstein, alongside a vintage picnic photo. Again, with wire adornments, an old typewriter "Margin Release" key and pearl beads. The box sits on 4 brass bullet casings

I eat my peas with honey;
I've done it all my life.
It makes the peas taste funny,
But it keeps them on the knife.
